Former flame gets $7.1M payout from ex-TransPerfect biz partner
The co-founder of the world’s largest language-translation company must pay his former business partner — and ex-lover — $7.1 million, a judge ruled Friday.
Philip Shawe and Elizabeth Elting, who together founded TransPerfect Global Inc. as college students, have been fighting in court over how to run their multimillion-dollar biz.
Shawe was ordered to cough up the dough for destroying evidence in the case and for repeatedly lying under oath to cover his tracks, according to a July ruling filed in Delaware Court of Chancery.
Shawe deleted files off his laptop and “undertook a campaign to spy” on Elting and access private e-mails between her and her lawyers, Chancellor Andre Bouchard wrote. Part of the money will go to paying legal fees.
