Hillary Clinton blasted Donald Trump on Thursday for sharing insights from classified intelligence briefings during a televised forum.
“I think what he said was totally inappropriate and undisciplined,” Clinton told reporters in a rare press conference before boarding her campaign plane in White Plains, New York.
“I would never comment on any aspect of an intelligence briefing that I received.”
At NBC’s commander-in-chief forum Wednesday night, Trump was asked about his recent intelligence briefings and he suggested security officials specializing in Iraq, Iran and Russia just aren’t happy with the Obama administration.
“There was one thing that shocked me,” Trump said.
“And it just seems to me that what they said President Obama and Hillary Clinton and John Kerry, who is another total disaster, did exactly the opposite.”
Clinton also bashed Trump for praising Russian leader Vladimir Putin while disrespecting Obama and US generals who “have been reduced to rubble.”
“What would Ronald Reagan say about a Republican nominee who attacks America’s generals and heaps praise on Russia’s president?” she said.
In an earlier interview with Israeli TV, Clinton said jihadists are so eager for Trump to win the presidential election, they are offering this prayer to their God: “Oh please, Allah, make Trump president of America.”
Clinton made the claim on Israel’s Channel 2, saying Trump had been “giving aid and comfort to their evil ambitions.”
Referencing a Time magazine opinion piece by the former director of the National Counterterrorism Center, Matt Olsen, titled “Why ISIS Supports Donald Trump,” Clinton made the claim that her Republican opponent is aiding the enemy.
“I found it even surprising how clear and compelling the case was where he quoted ISIS spokespeople rooting for Donald Trump’s victory because Trump has made Islam and Muslims a part of his campaign and basically Matt Olsen argues that the jihadists see this as a great gift. They are saying, ‘Oh, please Allah, make Trump president of America,’” Clinton told the Israeli channel.
“So I’m not interested in giving aid and comfort to their evil ambitions. I want to defeat them. I want to end their reign of terror. I don’t want them to feel as though they can be getting more recruits because of our politics.”
Speaking about her own plan to destroy ISIS, Clinton said: “We are going to intensify our air campaign …give more support on the ground to the Arab and Kurdish fighters. I believe that we need leverage to deal with the Russians, the Iranians and the Syrians, whether it is a no-fly zone or some other tool.”
Clinton added, “I’m going to take everything that I have learned and that I know we can do and move as quickly as possible against them.”
