Hearst moves to eliminate ‘publisher’ title at third mag
The job of “publisher” has disappeared from a third magazine in the design group at Hearst.
Barbara Hertz Friedmann, the VP, publisher and chief revenue officer of Elle Decor, saw her position eliminated and is no longer with the company.
Sister titles Veranda and House Beautiful eliminated the publisher slots several years earlier.
“Elle Decor’s business-side structure is now aligned with that of the other brands in the Hearst Design Group, which are overseen by Kate Kelly Smith, SVP/group publishing director,” said a spokeswoman.
Smith was the publisher of House Beautiful when she was promoted by Hearst President David Carey to be group publisher in 2011.
Her old job at HB was never refilled.
