The Wildcat returns for his 20th season in The Post. Including the 1997-2015 seasons in the Bettor’s Guide, Cat’s record in print stands at 546-462 (54.1 percent) against the spread.
Saturday
Northern Illinois (+15) over SOUTH FLORIDA: Visiting Huskies got caught at altitude at improving Wyoming, and wore down in triple-OT tilt which didn’t end until almost 5 a.m. in the East. NIU may be a tad off its peak, but remain capable road warriors, with quarterback Drew Hare playing catch with ace wideout Kenny Golladay. Thirteen NIU players out of Florida look to testify, in this visit. Mush with NIU (+15), for one unit.
Sunday
Chargers (+6 1/2) over CHIEFS: Before Dick Vermeil got there, the Chiefs were long automatic in home openers. But they haven’t covered an Arrowhead curtain-raiser as chalk in a decade, and Andy Reid’s now part of that problem, given his arch-conservative style. Now-healthy Bolts typically tough out when granted generous head starts, and this should be no different. Ride the Chargers (+6 1/2), for one unit.
Last week: 1-0. Southern Mississippi (W).
(Thursday night pick: BRONCOS/Panthers under 41 ¹/₂)
