Mirror mirror on the wall, what’s the best vacation rental of them all?
A charming property in Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills — a 1,200-square-foot retreat rumored to be the inspiration for Snow White’s cottage in the 1937 Disney film — has opened for guest stays, Curbed reports.
This recently restored two-bedroom home sleeps four (sadly, there’s not enough space for all seven dwarves) with an average rate of $307 per night.
If the rumors are true, it’s no surprise that the film’s animated cottage — with its now-iconic textured green roof shingles — was modeled off this pad.
Tudor-style touches include diamond-paned glass windows and decorative wooden beams, but the standout feature is its turret, which gives the space a true castle feel.
A walk through the green-colored front door brings you to interiors replete with original details. Listing images show that rustic-looking hardwood lines the floors, surrounds the windows and doors and runs along the ceilings with beams. The same material adorns the kitchen cabinets, which blend with vintage tile work and stainless steel Bosch appliances. Arched doorways, a spiral stone staircase and a stone fireplace add extra charm.
The lush outdoor space includes a waterfall and fish pond, room for dining and stone-paved walkways.
This home has been owned by the same family since the 1930s, but that doesn’t mean all the features are stuck in the past. There are televisions throughout and, of course, Internet.
A two- to three-night stay is required.
