Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton squared off Wednesday over their health, with both releasing new information from their medical files to prove they’re fit to serve as president.
Clinton is suffering from “a mild noncontagious bacterial pneumonia” and is on a slew of medications to treat a variety of issues, including blood clots and allergies.
Among the meds were: Armor Thyroid, which is used to treat hypothyroidism; Coumadin, a blood thinner that prevents clots; Levaquin (for a total 10 days), to fight the bacterial infection; Clarinex, for allergies; and vitamin B-12, her doctor, Lisa Bardack, revealed.
Clinton is at home in Chappaqua recovering. She plans to hit the campaign trail Thursday in North Carolina.
The doctor also disclosed that Clinton had minor surgery this year to insert a myringotomy tube in her left ear to combat a sinus and ear infection. The surgery, which was not made public previously, took place in January.
The doctor said Clinton’s blood pressure was 100/70; her heart rate came in at 70 beats per minute; her respiratory rate was 18 breaths per minute; her cholesterol was 189; and her temperature was 97.8. all within normal ranges.
Bardack concluded that her “overall impression is that Mrs. Clinton has remained healthy,” other than her current ailment, and that she’s in “excellent mental condition.”
The doctor’s letter did not reveal Clinton’s height or weight, and campaign officials declined to provide them.
Trump alluded to Hillary’s health during a rally in Canton, Ohio, Wednesday night, saying she would not be able to handle the heat at the venue.
“I don’t know, folks, do you think Hillary could stand up here for an hour?” he asked.
Trump, for his part, is “slightly overweight,” takes statins to control his cholesterol, enjoys fast food and doesn’t regularly exercise — yet he’s generally in good health — according to the findings of a physical exam he took last week and released during a taping Wednesday of Dr. Oz’s TV show.
The results were not given to anyone other than Dr. Mehmet Oz. The show airs Thursday.
Laurance Rassin, an audience member, said it was revealed during the taping that Trump’s cholesterol is “under 170.”
“Dr. Oz did say that if he had a patient with this report, he’d send them on his way,” Rassin, a Trump supporter, told CNN.
Trump also said during the taping that he has not been to a hospital since age 11 because he’s “too healthy,” NBC News reported.
Clinton’s health came under intense scrutiny after she nearly collapsed leaving the 9/11 memorial ceremony at Ground Zero on Sunday morning.
