Utah prosecutors have filed rape charges against a University of Southern California football player who is also under investigation for an alleged California sexual assault involving the same victim.
Charging documents say Utah authorities accuse Osa Masina of sexually assaulting a woman July 25 who was passed out in a Salt Lake City suburb. Masina is charged with one count of rape and two counts of forcible sodomy.
Court documents show Masina and teammate Don Hill are also under investigation for an alleged sexual assault July 14 at an off-campus apartment in California.
Masina allegedly recorded the California incident on his phone. According to TMZ, a search warrant from the investigation states the alleged victim says she later learned Masina sent photos and videos of the sexual encounter to her ex-boyfriend, a football player at Arizona, via Snapchat.
USC suspended Masina and Hill on Tuesday. According to Sports Illustrated, Masina will likely surrender to police Thursday afternoon with his bail set at $250,000.
Masina’s attorney Greg Skordas did not immediately return a telephone message Thursday. The 19-year-old Masina is a Utah native who played at Brighton High School.
