Donald Trump denounced the press Thursday as becoming “more and more vicious” and joked that he’s pursuing higher office because he’s “looking to make a lot less money.”
The mogul made the comments in an appearance on “The Tonight Show” as host Jimmy Fallon conducted a mock job interview with the presidential candidate.
“Why would you excel at this job?” Fallon asked.
“Because I love people, and I want to do right for people,” Trump responded, adding that he also has affection for polls — at least the ones showing he’s ahead.
“I don’t pay attention if I’m losing or lagging, I never mention it,” Trump said as the audience laughed. “Believe me, only when I’m winning.”
And Trump admitted he’s no longer in the business of trying to make outrageous comments.
“I’m trying not to … anymore,” Trump said.
Fallon ended the interview with a request: “Can I mess your hair up? I’ll be gentle.”
Trump grimaced as the crowd cheered.
“The answer’s yes,” the Republican presidential candidate said.
Fallon then enthusiastically dove into the tycoon’s trademark ‘do.
