This free agent did not get away from the Mets.
Gary Cohen has re-signed with SNY and will remain the play-by-play voice of the team alongside Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling, a source confirmed to The Post.
Hernandez re-signed with the Mets-owned network last offseason, while Darling last inked a deal after the 2013 season. Cohen, a Queens native, has been calling Mets games since 1989.
This deal completes an impressive November for Cohen after it was announced two weeks ago that he was a finalist for the Hall of Fame’s Ford C. Frick Award for excellence in broadcasting. The winner will be announced next month.
It’s not hard to see why with calls like this.
