Newt Gingrich is not a fan of Mitt Romney

Newt Gingrich blasted Mitt Romney as a prospective secretary of state, arguing that the front-runner to fill the position holds a worldview that’s incompatible with the “Trump vision of foreign policy.”

“I can think of 20 other people who would be more naturally compatible,” Gingrich said Tuesday on Fox News‘ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

“Romney does represent a very different viewpoint — authentically. I’m not sure whose secretary of state he would be,” he added, without elaborating on Romney’s global vision.

Asked to detail who would be a better selection than Romney, Gingrich named former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former UN Ambassador John Bolton, former Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Arizona) and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.

Gingrich, who met with Donald Trump earlier this week, aired his criticism of Romney just days after the 2012 Republican presidential nominee met with the president-elect in Bedminster, NJ.

And his gripes come as the Wall Street Journal reported Romney is first in line to get the top diplomatic job in the Trump administration.

Gingrich was passed over by Trump for the vice presidency, which instead went to Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

The former speaker announced last week he won’t be holding a cabinet position in the Trump administration.

“I intend to be focused on strategic planning,” he said.
