A Brooklyn Law School instructor is refusing to vacate his combined apartments at a prime Brooklyn Heights waterfront property so that the building can be renovated, a suit charges.
Professor Samuel Murumba’s nemesis is Manhattan billionaire Vincent Viola, who purchased the high-rise at 2 Pierrepont St. from the law school for $35 million in September 2015.
When the deadline for students and faculty to vacate came, Murumba asserted tenant rights and refused to leave, court papers say.
Viola’s company is suing the school for $2 million, and the school has sued Murumba in city Housing Court.
Murumba did not return a call for comment, and BLS lawyer Dean Yuzek declined to comment.
Viola lawyer Richard Wasserman said, “Brooklyn Law School . . . was to turn over the balance of the space, and they failed to do it.”
