Trump officially wins Michigan amid recount demands

Donald Trump officially won Michigan on Monday, making it the last state to call the election, even as the Green Party demanded recounts there, as well as in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

Trump won with 2,279,543 votes — 47.6 percent — 10,704 more than Hillary Clinton’s 2,268,839 or 47.4 percent.

That brought his Electoral College tally to 306 to Clinton’s 232.

Losing Green Party candidate Jill Stein on Monday petitioned for a statewide hand recount of Michigan’s 4.8 million votes.

State election officials said the recount will begin Friday and Saturday once Stein produces the money to cover the cost, estimated at $3.5 million.

Stein also filed a lawsuit in Pennsylvania seeking a recount and planned to seek a re-tally in Wisconsin as well.

“Petitioners have grave concerns about the integrity of electronic voting machines used in their districts,” the suit stated, according to Philly.com.

Trump edged Clinton by some 71,000 votes, or about 1 percent, in Pennsylvania.

Team Clinton has said it would support the Green Party effort.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, meanwhile, said that Trump should put up or shut up about his claim that there was widespread voter fraud in his state.

“All I say is when you make an allegation, put proof behind it,” McAuliffe told NBC’s Richmond affiliate.

“Every single organization that does political fact-checking has that as 100 percent erroneous.”

The president-elect claimed on Sunday that millions of people voted illegally nationwide.

Trump alleged that three states — California, New Hampshire and Virginia — experienced “serious voter fraud.”
