At least 26 people who clogged a Lower Manhattan street while protesting for higher wages were arrested Tuesday morning on charges including disorderly conduct, authorities said.
The protest began around dawn and eventually flooded the road at Liberty Street and Broadway, near Zuccotti Park — the site of the months-long Occupy Wall Street encampment in 2011.
The protesters were part of the “Fight For 15” movement, which advocates for wages of at least $15 for people working low-paying jobs.
Police said those arrested would likely face charges of disorderly conduct or other forms of civil disobedience.
