A luxury menswear designer from London who peddles $900 jeans and $4,000 men’s blazers got duped into letting a Manhattan con artist run his store in The Plaza hotel, according to a lawsuit.
Angelo Galasso, whose clients include Al Pacino, claims Sam Munshani and Leigh Davies approached him last year, painting themselves as big fashion players .
Galasso met them at the posh Core Club, where Munshani claimed to be a founding member.
Munshani described himself as “extremely connected” and promised to double the sales volume at Galasso’s Plaza Hotel outlet within two months, the designer says in a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit against the pair.
Galasso put Munshani in charge of all operations, only to find he “was a complete failure,” according to court papers.
The store’s profits tanked, in part because Munshani insisted on buying $1.5 million in unnecessary merchandise he never sold, fired key members of the staff, and failed to attract investors, Galasso charges.
Galasso is seeking $5 million. The couple could not be reached for comment.
