Sex robots modeled on celebrities are set to take the world by storm, a leading expert has warned.
Leaps in technology mean that shockingly realistic mechanical lovers will soon be on the market.
Experts in the field of robotics have now revealed that the next logical step is for designers to create sex robots to look exactly like your favorite celebrities.
David Levy, author of “Love and Sex with Robots,” said the demand was “absolutely” there.
The expert is convinced the sexy cyborgs would fly off the shelves.
He told the Daily Star Online: “You can imagine people saying, ‘I’ve got a sex robot who looks like Angelina Jolie and she’s fabulous in bed!’”
But any attempt to create a robot — for seedy purposes or otherwise — based on someone else’s likeness could land you in trouble if you don’t have their consent.
Designers would have to get the green light from any celebs before creating a robot that looks like them.
Levy, however, doesn’t think it will be too much of a problem.
He reckons there will be plenty of A-listers who are willing to flog the rights to their likeness.
Levy explained: “If you’re Angelina Jolie and there’s a company manufacturing a high-quality product, and you’re getting a royalty of $1,200 to $2,500 for each one, you could make even more millions than you’ve got just by licensing your appearance.”
And he has no concerns about the technology required to make such a project work.
Robotics experts say all you will need is a photograph of the person you want the futuristic sex doll to look like.
Next-generation computer programs will then be able to create a 3D model of the celeb in question, using it to build an accurate 3D model of them out of silicone.
But not everyone thinks sex robots will be such a good thing for humanity.
Experts have previously claimed teenagers could soon be losing their virginity with the mechanical love machines — with one warning that people could become addicted to the robotic romps.
There have even been warnings that sex with robots could turn people into psychopaths.
But others have been keen to emphasize the potential benefits — such as combating STIs or being able to have threesomes without making your partner jealous.
