San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who was benched over the weekend but will start Sunday against the Jets, denied reports that he recently purchased a $3.21 million condo in Tribeca and has put his San Jose house on the market.
Kaepernick reportedly will opt out of his contract after this season and become a free agent, with the Jets among multiple teams that may attempt to land the controversial quarterback.
“I actually didn’t buy a condo in New York, so I don’t know where that report is coming from,” Kaepernick said on a conference call, of a report in the Los Angeles Times citing property records. “I haven’t thought about my future past this season. My focus is winning the game this weekend. I’m under contract for this year and another year.
“I did not sell my house, so once again, I don’t know where these reports are coming from. I hear a lot of different things about what my living situation is or what my personal life is or a lot of different things. Those are things that come with being a public figure.”
