Donald Trump is Time magazine’s person of the year.
The president-elect got the nod after his astonishing ascent from political outsider to leader of the free world.
“It’s a great honor. It means a lot,” Trump told NBC’s “Today” show, where the pick was revealed by Time editor Nancy Gibbs on Wednesday.
Gibbs called the pick “straightforward,” noting Trump’s uncanny ability to defy expectations.
Time said Trump’s many accomplishments include “empowering a hidden electorate by mainstreaming its furies and live-streaming its fears.”
Once more, Hillary Clinton came in second place to Trump. Hackers were in third place.
