Jayson Werth was the real star of Bryce Harper’s wedding

Why so serious, Jayson Werth?

The Nationals outfielder’s puzzling appearance stole some wedding thunder from teammate Bryce Harper, who married girlfriend Kayla Varner in Southern California over the weekend. After the happy couple wed inside San Diego’s famed LDS Temple, they posed for pictures with their gleeful wedding party.

Most of them were gleeful, anyway. As Harper and his groomsmen flashed their pearly whites for the camera, a stone-faced Werth barely cracked a smile. Despite being in the second row of the shot, Werth’s emotionless mug did not go unnoticed on social media.

Fortunately for Harper and Varner, the remainder of their guests had no problems putting on happy faces. Photographer India Earl described the big day being stylized by a “pretty” drizzle.

“Bryce and Kaylas wedding was full of pretty rain, gut-busting-nose-crinkling laughs, and lots of happy tears. So dang happy for these two,” Earl shared on Instagram.

Harper and Varner’s road to happily ever after has been anything but smooth. The couple called off their wedding, which was originally planned for January 2015, before getting re-engaged this year. The appropriate wedding hashtag: #TheSequel.
