Chilling new video shows the Turkish anti-terror cop pacing behind the Russian ambassador in Ankara as the cop fidgets, checks his inner jacket pocket and finally pulls out his semiautomatic and guns down the diplomat.
After shooting Andrey Karlov in the back, Mevlut Mert Altintas screams at the top of his lungs, “We die in Aleppo, you die here!”
The footage — which was published on LiveLeak — shows the 22-year-old cop firing at least eight times as Karlov, 62, delivered a speech at the opening of an art exhibit.
Yelling in Turkish and Arabic, Altintas quotes an Islamic teaching referring to jihad: “We are the ones who pledged loyalty to [the Prophet] Muhammad to fight jihad as long as we live!”
He also shouted “Allahu akbar” — Arabic for “God is great!” — and “Don’t forget Aleppo, don’t forget Syria.”
Altintas, pointing defiantly in the air, yells: “Only death will remove me from here! Everyone who has taken part in this oppression will one by one pay for it one by one!”
The gunman was killed after a 15-minute shootout with police forces.
Altintas, who was originally from the town of Soke in western Turkey, had been an active cop since 2014 after graduating from Izmir Police School.
It has been reported that he gained entry to the art gallery using his police ID.
“I am protecting the Russian ambassador,” he is reported to have said.
