One of the men accused of killing Brooklyn landlord Menachem “Max” Stark told cops that he was actually the slain businessman’s good buddy — and that he put a tracking device on the victim’s car to help him out, according to court papers.
“Max is a friend of mine,” Erskin Felix told investigators a few months after the 2014 murder, newly unsealed documents show.
Felix — who was indicted Wednesday on charges of second-degree murder and kidnapping for his alleged role in the slaying — claimed that rather than wanting Stark dead, he actually tried to protect him from people who wanted to do him harm.
“Max had approached me in the summer and told me he was afraid someone was after him and wanted me to look out for him,” Felix said.
Stark disappeared from his Williamsburg office in the middle of a blizzard in January 2014. His burnt body was found in a Long Island Dumpster the next day.
