Here’s a suggestion for Alexa 2.0: Wash her mouth out with soap.
Amazon’s voice-activated digital assistant unleashed a torrent of raunchy language after a toddler asked it to play a children’s song.
“Play ‘Digger, Digger,’” the young boy, named Bobby, says in the incident caught on a YouTube video, speaking into one of the company’s Echo Dot speakers.
“You want to hear a station for porn,” Alexa replied before unspooling a string of filthy terms, beginning with “hot chick, amateur girl” and descending into a slew of unprintables.
The child’s panicked family rushed to shut off the device, with one exclaiming, “Alexa, stop!”
The video, titled “Amazon Alexa Gone Wild,” had been played on YouTube more than 500,000 times as of Friday afternoon, putting it at No. 4 on the site’s trending list.
Amazon said it had contacted the family to apologize. The glitch has been fixed, according to a spokesperson, and Amazon is “working to build additional restrictions to prevent this from happening in the future.”
