The Jets reportedly have filled one of their assistant coaching vacancies.
Todd Bowles has hired Bears outside linebackers coach Clint Hurtt to fill the same job on his staff, according to Sporting News.
The Jets fired Mark Collins last week after two years as outside linebackers coach as part of massive staff changes. Hurtt spent the past two seasons as the Bears’ outside linebackers coach under John Fox. He previously served as the team’s defensive line coach for three years under Marc Trestman. He also has experience in the college coaching ranks.
It is a crucial position for the Jets, who have drafted Jordan Jenkins and Lorenzo Mauldin over the past two years. Both players showed some flashes this year, but it will be up to Hurtt to develop them further in 2017.
