A legislator whose district includes Trump Tower is urging President-elect Donald Trump to stay out of New York to cut down on the city’s massive security bill.
“We ask that you spend your time over the next four years at the White House,” Councilman Dan Garodnick said Tuesday at a City Council hearing on the costs of protecting Trump’s Midtown home. “The White House is lovely at any time of the year, and that is a much better place to accommodate these significant security obligations.”
Vincent Grippo, NYPD budget director, warned that if the city isn’t reimbursed, there could be cuts in the number of patrol officers.
