BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — Officials say one person has died in a collision between a westbound non-passenger Long Island Rail Road train and a vehicle in Brentwood.
It happened just after 8 p.m. Monday at the Fourth Street crossing just west of the Brentwood Station.
A railroad spokesman did not have any other details on the fatality.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the victim was the only occupant in the vehicle and no train crew members sustained any injuries.
Service, which had been temporarily suspended, has now been restored in both directions between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma.
