Russia has no dirt on Donald Trump, according to the president-elect, who in a Friday tweet storm fingered US intelligence agencies for “probably” releasing a scandalous, unverified dossier on him earlier this week.
“It now turns out that the phony allegations against me were put together by my political opponents and a failed spy afraid of being sued,” Trump wrote, part of a wide-ranging frenzy of early morning tweets.
“Totally made up facts by sleazebag political operatives, both Democrats and Republicans – FAKE NEWS! Russia says nothing exists. Probably released by ‘Intelligence’ even knowing there is no proof, and never will be. My people will have a full report on hacking within 90 days!” he added.
Trump’s tweets refer to a reported claim by US intelligence organizations that the Russian government supposedly had damning information on him, which CNN reported this week. BuzzFeed followed up the explosive CNN report by publishing the entire dossier on which the report was based.
The Wall Street Journal reported that political groups were behind the dossier — and that they hired Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer, to gather the material through contacts in Russia.
Also Friday, Trump responded to news that the inspector general of the Department of Justice plans to launch an internal investigation into the DOJ and FBI’s handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server.
Trump used his Twitter account to slam Hillary Clinton, who he claimed “should never have been allowed to run.”
“What are Hillary Clinton’s people complaining about with respect to the F.B.I.,” Trump said in a Friday tweet.
“Based on the information they had she should never have been allowed to run – guilty as hell. They were VERY nice to her. She lost because she campaigned in the wrong states – no enthusiasm!” he added.
And in other tweets Friday, Trump slammed ObamaCare, and praised his cabinet picks.
“The “Unaffordable” Care Act will soon be history!” Trump said Friday.
“All of my Cabinet nominee are looking good and doing a great job. I want them to be themselves and express their own thoughts, not mine!” the president-elect added in a separate posting.
