Atlanta rapper says Sony let group steal his song

An Atlanta rapper says Sony let another band steal his music.

Micaiah Raheem, also known as “Raheem the Dream,” a self-described “legendary” hip-hop producer from Georgia whose music has been recorded by artists such as Fergie, Migos and Rico Love, says in a lawsuit that Sony Music Entertainment allowed his 1998 song “You Scared, You Scared” to be copied without permission.

The band Three 6 Mafia recorded a song called, “You Scared, Part 2” for a 2003 album, which replicates the “hook” from Raheem’s tune as well as the repetition of the phrase “You scared,” he charges in a Manhattan federal court filing. “Significant portions of the songs are nearly identical,” claims Raheem, who is seeking unspecified damages.

Raheem had medical issues, including a double brain aneurysm, that prevented him from discovering the infringement for years, his lawyer, Peter Scoolidge, said. Sony declined to comment.
