The back-and-forth between radio personalities Mike Francesa and Sid Rosenberg took a weird turn this week.
A woman called into the “Bernie and Sid Show” on WABC on Wednesday morning to tell a story about the time Francesa tried to get her fired from the gym where she was working.
Liz, from Nassau County, said Francesa came into her gym, which she declined to name, about 12 years ago to work out with a personal trainer — in violation of gym policy. Liz said she approached Francesa, and the iconic WFAN host immediately got indignant.
The caller said Francesa claimed he was there with his physical therapist and demanded, “Don’t you know who I am?”
“I was like, ‘Absolutely I do not know who you are,’ ” Liz said. “I didn’t care. You get people from all over.”
She said she almost lost her job over the encounter and was left with one overall impression of Francesa: “I thought he was a real d-bag.”
Francesa and Rosenberg have been trading slams all week over the airwaves. Francesa called Rosenberg “delusional” and said he’s lucky to have a job. Francesa also claimed Rosenberg texts and calls him so much he has thought about changing his number.
Rosenberg then went on Don Imus’ show to respond to Francesa’s “long, ugly rant,” claiming Francesa “lied the whole way through it” and texted Rosenberg 26 times while on the air.
Rosenberg also went on Twitter to stoke the flames Wednesday night, saying those who don’t believe his side of things “don’t want to believe.”
These two don’t look like they’re calling a ceasefire any time soon.
