College student spots 11-foot python slithering under car

A Florida college student spotted an 11-foot-long python slithering its way under his roommate’s car.

Ross Price, 24, a student at Nova Southeastern University, found the reticulated python — whose species is considered among the world’s largest snakes — under his roommate’s Toyota Camry in their parking lot on Feb. 1, the Sun Sentinel reported.

Price and his roommate, James Hand, called an exterminator that night, but were told that it was too late to send someone. So they called police to check it out.

Three cops responded, but the snake put up a fight — twisting itself deeper into the Camry’s engine department. The officers managed to remove it within about 15 minutes, the Sentinel reported.

The Davie Police Department posted a video on YouTube showing an officer holding the massive squirming snake.

The spokesman for the department, Sgt. Mark Leone, told the Sentinel that the snake likely used to be a pet since it was found in a residential area.

The python was turned over to Strictly Reptiles, a company licensed by the state of Florida to care for exotic animals.

Hand, 25, told the Sentinel the situation could have turned out far worse.

“I thought about it later,” he said. “What if it had crawled up into my car and made its way inside as I was driving? …I don’t want to think about it.”
