A man who posted a photo on Facebook showing a stack of cash worth $70,000 was beaten with a frying pan and pistol whipped when three men showed up to his Bronx apartment Thursday to take the money, police said.
The suspects, two of whom were armed, broke into the basement apartment on Pugsley Avenue through an unlocked back door around noon.
The unarmed man picked up a frying pan that was in the 20-year-old victim’s kitchen and began whacking him with it, knocking out some of his teeth, police said.
The men tied the victim up with electrical cords and continued pummeling him while demanding the cash he had flaunted on social media.
“Where’s the money,” they shouted. “Tell us cause we’re not leaving without it.”
The thugs also threatened to burn the victim with a hot clothes iron before he finally submitted and led them to the money, which was hidden in his refrigerator.
The men then grabbed the cash and fled on foot.
The victim later told police the large sum of money was from a handbag business he runs and that he posted a photo of it online, likely inviting the robbery.
He suffered several cuts and bruises during the beating but was not seriously injured, cops said.
