A woman whose excess hair on her face and body is making her miserable has told how she worries that she’s “becoming a man”.
Sammy Hancock, 29, from Guildford, United Kingdom, who runs a blog where she shares her savvy shopping tips, has told how she often spends up to an hour shaving her whole body after depilatory creams failed to solve her problem.
She told UK’s 5STAR program Don’t Tell the Doctor: “I get concerned that maybe in ten years’ time I am literally going to be a gorilla.”
The problem has gotten so bad that Sammy says she now struggles to leave the house.
She added: “It’s horrible, it stops me from going out and having a social life, it puts me off mingling with people.
“I literally don’t feel like a woman sometimes, I feel like I am becoming a man. It’s just horrible.”
Sammy tells the show that after researching online for a cure she became a vegan in a bid to tackle her excess fuzz – but it didn’t work.
She also says that hair removal creams have proven expensive and caused her to come out in a rash.
After a visit from Dr. Belinda Fenty, the show sees Sammy seek cosmetic help to get rid of her coarse hair for good.
Dr. Fenty explains: “With a condition like this there is no quick fix but with regular sessions of laser treatment it can be very effective.”
Sammy notices the results of just one treatment after only a few weeks.
She says: “I did have some long black hairs that haven’t come back.
“But I do have regrowth, but it has come through a lot softer.”
Sammy now says that she feels more confident and now hopes to work as a television extra.
