Jonathan Adler and Simon Doonan’s stress-free Oscars plans

Design mogul Jonathan Adler and husband Simon Doonan, creative ambassador at large for Barneys, are known for their fabulous style. But if you think they’ll throw an over-the-top soiree to ring in the Oscars, think again: Instead, they’re planning a low-key evening in their Greenwich Village apartment with 10 guests. They’ll pop some bottles of Champagne, but just for the others. “We’re so boring — I haven’t [had a drink] since 1983,” Doonan, 64, tells The Post’s ZACHARY KUSSIN. “We don’t drink — we’re a couple of frat guys without the fun,” adds Adler, 50. Here’s what they’re planning to do for this weekend’s Academy Awards bash.

DOONAN: Our evening will be a fun mix of high- and low-brow flair. We’ll order six margherita pizzas from Patsy’s Pizzeria and serve the slices on china. Jonathan, as part of his collection called 1948, made these incredible white porcelain dishes with a solid-gold splatter — they’re very celebratory.

ADLER: We like to keep things casual with a hint of formality. An “entrance-maker” look adds to the high-low juxtaposition — and we can look forward to Simon wearing one on Sunday.

DOONAN: I’m a big believer in having crazy and theatrical at-home outfits, sort of like Auntie Mame. They’re not clothes you’d wear to a restaurant around the corner — on the other hand, they’re not preppy basics. So I’ll wear some glam-rock-inspired flashy satin number from Saint Laurent and these new shoes I just bought from Gucci, which have metallic Union Jack flag designs on the front. It’s a way to make things a bit more fun for our guests, who will also be done up to the nines.

ADLER: We haven’t seen all the films nominated for Best Picture — it’s tough for us to get to the cinema on weekends. But for Actress in a Leading Role, we’re rooting for Isabelle Huppert. We were blown away by her performance.

DOONAN: It’s remarkable to see someone in their 60s throw themselves into that role with such panache and gusto. We also hope Viola Davis wins Actress in a Supporting Role for “Fences” — I thought she was incredible.

ADLER: This weekend will also include all of our regular activities. A favorite is bringing our mutt, Foxy Lady, to brunch at Dover Street Market’s Rose Bakery, where we meet Liz Lange and her husband.

DOONAN: We’ll see each other this Sunday to get our regular orders: quiches, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and cake — especially the green-tea cake.

ADLER: Poor Liz — she’ll see us for lunch and come over for the Oscars, too!
