PGAer’s emotional Tiger defense: ‘Stop being so nasty’

Martin Kaymer has had enough of the grave-dancing when it comes to Tiger Woods’ DUI arrest.

Kaymer, a two-time golf major champ, posted an emotional two-minute video on Twitter in which he called out those who seemingly have celebrated Woods’ demise.

“There’s so many comments, so many opinions. They are so unfair and so disrespectful, in my opinion,” Kaymer said. “Everybody who was involved in golf was changed by his legacy, by his play, by so many things he has done. … He inspired all of us. I find it so nasty to kick him down, kick him while he’s already on the floor. At the end of the day, it’s just using someone else for your own sadness. … Why are you being so nasty? Why are you not trying to inspire him the way he inspired us?”

It’s unclear if Kaymer is calling out a particular golfer making comments behind the scenes — Woods, though known for being aloof in the locker room, has garnered universal public support from his peers — or the public as a whole. The sad and vacant look in Woods’ eyes in his mugshot has become fodder for the press. The original report from TMZ stated Woods “smelled of alcohol.” However, the police report said he blew a .000 on the Breathalyzer. Woods claimed in a statement that he had an “unexpected reaction to prescribed medications.”

“That’s where we are now. We all want to see him be happier and hopefully play golf one day. That’s my only wish,” Kaymer said.
