A man died by jumping from an elevated train platform in Jackson Heights early Tuesday, police said.
The 55-year-old man was seen leaping from the No. 7 platform at the 82nd Street and Jackson Heights station ar und 8 a.m., cops said.
“It was fast,” said Ernesto Castillo, a 45-year-old barber who was on his way to work when he witnessed the man take the plunge.
“He was coming down headway, and his hands were stretched down [below his head]. When he hit the concrete, I heard like, you know, when you crush something hard.”
The jumper is believed to have leaped from the Manhattan-bound side of the platform, ultimately landing on 83rd Street and Roosevelt Avenue.
“I feel bad for his family,” Castillo said. “I wonder what happened, why he did it.”
