Residents who lived in a homeless shelter with rampaging ex-Bronx Lebanon Hospital doctor Henry Bello said Saturday it was only a matter of time before he snapped.
“He was a mental health occupant, so I mean, it’s not surprising,” said a 31-year-old resident at the 30th Street Men’s Shelter who asked to remain anonymous.
“You’re going through things. You have mental health issues and then people…antagonize you and you lose your job.”
The resident had a recent conversation with gunman Bello, 45, where he talked about his resignation from the hospital in 2015 amid a sexual-harassment scandal.
Bello returned to the hospital Friday and opened fire – fatally shooting a physician and wounding six others.
Bello told him, “It felt like he was being picked on by his co-workers and stuff like that. People was being manipulative to him.”
After going on the blood-soaked rampage, Bello fatally shot himself with a rifle.
