Two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry has agreed to a five-year, $201 million extension with the Warriors, the superstar’s agent reportedly told ESPN minutes after the free-agency period opened.
The deal would make Curry, who has led Golden State to three consecutive NBA Finals appearances and two titles, the highest-paid player in league history and the first to agree to the NBA’s new supermax contract.
The Warriors reportedly also agreed to terms with backup guard Shaun Livingston on a three-year, $24 million deal.
Livingston has been a key piece off the bench throughout the Warriors’ postseason runs and was a priority for team brass to sign in free agency.
With Livingston and Curry likely locked in, the Warriors will turn their attention to finalizing a team-friendly deal with Finals MVP Kevin Durant that would allow them also to re-sign Sixth Man of the Year runner-up Andre Iguodala.
