Britney Spears’ first visit to Israel caused chaos Sunday as fans mobbed her during a visit to the Western Wall, leading her to skip a dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to reports.
The pop singer was expected to dine with Netanyahu and child cancer patients a day before her first-ever Tel Aviv concert Monday but was swarmed by fans at the holy site in Jerusalem, Ynet News reported.
Security had to whisk her away, the news outlet said.
“Hundreds of people jumped on her, and she decided to cancel it all,” a Spears insider told Ynet.
A government official said she didn’t stand up Netanyahu and the sick kids — because her attendance had never been confirmed. She was to meet the kids before Monday’s show, Ynet said.
Israel’s Labor Party had planned elections for Monday but delayed them a day in anticipation of the concert hubbub.
