A Flatbush man was charged Monday with hurling anti-gay slurs at a couple aboard a Q train before knocking one of them out with a sucker punch.
Antoine Thomas, 27, was indicted on second-degree assault as a hate crime and other related charges for the sickening May 21 attack that began on the Brooklyn-bound train at Union Square.
Thomas started screaming insults at the victim and her girlfriend over their sexual orientation after sitting down next to them.
At one point, he allegedly bumped into the victim when the train made a sudden stop – then punched her in the face as the train pulled into the DeKalb Avenue station in Downtown Brooklyn.
Thomas tried to get off the train by walking in between the cars but was arrested at the station.
The victim, who was punched unconscious, suffered a concussion, broken nose, contusion and cuts to her eye requiring eight stitches.
Thomas’ lawyer pleaded not guilty on his behalf during a brief court appearance Monday in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
He faces up to 15 years if convicted.
