Playboy models get tossed into Mexican jail
A trio of Playboy Playmates say they were locked in a Mexican jail for 24 hours and had to beg for food and water because immigration officials believed they were working without visas.
Models Lauryn Elaine, Elif Celik and Marie Brethenoux were sipping bubbly at Playboy’s Music Fest in Merida, Mexico, on June 30 when officers stormed in and detained them, FOX News reported.
“Around midnight, immigration came and busted into our party when all of us girls were sitting at our VIP tables enjoying champagne and music. They then rounded us up into a large room and weeded us all out by checking everyone’s IDs,” Elaine told the station.
The officers believed the women were “working” the event without visas — and locked them in an immigration detainment facility for 24 hours, she said.
But the women were actually “volunteering” to work the party and did not get paid for it, according to Elaine.
“We do not get paid for these events so we were wrongfully taken because they abused their authority and thought they could shake down Playboy Mexico by taking us,” Elaine said.
She added, “We came to Mexico to celebrate each other’s company and to gain publicity with our fans by coming to these parties in Meridá and Cancun.”
After the models were released, they took to social media to gripe about abusive treatment.
The models were forced to “beg for food and water,” Elaine claimed.
“Happy to be out!!! Being in Mexican Immigration detainment was AWFUL!! They were so mean !” Elaine posted on Instagram — along with a frowning face emoji — Sunday.
Playboy Mexico described the detainment as a “misunderstanding” in a press release.
