A dead body was pulled out of the East River on Tuesday morning, police said.
The body was discovered floating near the shore along the East Village around 8:30 a.m. by people who were staking out a waterfront spot to view the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Show planned for Tuesday night.
Police and Fire Department units responded to the river in the area of East 6th Street and pulled the man’s fully clothed corpse out of the water.
It is unclear how the man ended up in the water and the cause of his death is under investigation, police said.
