A man wanted in connection with an acid attack that left an aspiring model and her cousin with “life-changing” burns has turned himself in to police.
John Tomlin, 24, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent following a three-week manhunt.
It comes after Resham Khan, 21, and her cousin Jameel Muhktar, 37, were allegedly doused in acid while sitting in their car in Beckton, east London, on June 21.
The pair were left with severe burns after the alleged attack on Khan’s 21st birthday.
Khan, a student just back from an exchange year in Cyprus, has told how she was left in “excruciating pain” after suffering burns to her face and body.
Writing on Twitter, she said: “I saw my clothes burn away in front of me. We stripped off in the middle of the road, running around screaming and begging for water.”
Muhktar was put in an induced coma and had an operation.
Tomlin turned himself in at an east London police station Sunday following a police appeal and was arrested.
He is currently in custody and inquiries continue.
