A group of transit cops stopped a farebeater at a Chelsea subway station — and discovered a gun hidden inside his left sneaker.
The officers were patrolling the W. 23rd St. station C and E lines on Wednesday when they saw 28-year-old Tyleek McGee walk through the emergency exit without paying around 6 p.m.
McGee was cuffed and then searched by the cops, who found a large quantity of unidentified pills and around $2,000 in cash on him.
When the officers took McGee down to Transit District 2 headquarters for processing, they searched him again and found a .380 caliber Ruger pistol under the sole of his left sneaker.
Police sources said it appeared that McGee had carved the shoe out to stash the weapon before placing the sole over top of it.
McGee, who has 11 prior arrests, was charged with possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, theft of service and trespassing.
