The fan who was seen on video confronting a nacho-cradling Chris Christie at a baseball game in Milwaukee Sunday said he called the New Jersey governor a “hypocrite” because “it needed to be said.”
“When he initially was going up the stairs I yelled his name,” fan Brad Joseph told WISN-TV in Milwaukee.
“He was quite a bit past me, and 30 feet away I yelled his name and told him that he sucked . . . I called him a hypocrite because I thought it needed to be said.”
Joseph, who was seen in Chicago Cubs gear at the game between the Brewers and Cubs, said that the unpopular Jersey politician then rushed back toward him and got in his face while gently holding a tray of nachos close to his chest.
“First he told me, ‘Why don’t you have another beer?’ which I thought was a decent come back, and I thought that was kind of funny,” he told the station. “Then he started calling me a tough guy.”
Christie was also heard on the video sarcastically telling the guy “You’re a big shot!”
The latest baseball heckling for Christie came after the governor was booed when he caught a foul ball at a Cardinals-Mets game at Citi Field on July 18.
He has been a national pariah since he was pictured earlier this month sitting alone with his family on a popular New Jersey beach that had been closed to general public because of a budget fight.
