Mom donates her breast milk to Harvey victims

A generous Missouri mom is giving all she has for the victims of Hurricane Harvey — donating almost eight gallons of her own breast milk.

Danielle Palmer, 31, packed up 1,040 ounces of breast milk into a cooler, enough for about 346 feedings, and shipped them off to families affected by the devastating flooding, News4 reported.

“We have to have each other’s backs. We have to take care of each other,” the mom of three said.

Palmer said she had a stash of breast milk ready to go due to months of freezing and saving it after her son, Truett, couldn’t drink it.

“Truett has a congenital heart defect along with other underlying anomalies. For a big chunk of his life, he was unable to take my milk. Most of his nutrition came through IV,” said Palmer.

Palmer says she is happy to help the moms of Houston and that seeing the news and devastation of the storm made her emotional about those affected.

“With Truett’s heart defect, I don’t take that lightly but I also know I’m grateful for the situation God placed us in… I mean had we not been in this situation, we wouldn’t be able to share some of our love with the babies in Houston,” the mom said.
