Police have released surveillance images of the man suspected of stabbing a Brazilian tourist who was taking pictures near Central Park over the weekend.
The suspect, who is believed to be homeless, stabbed 23-year-old Martins Machato in the back as he was snapping photos of a massive silver globe sculpture outside a Columbus Circle hotel on W. 60th St. between Broadway and Central Park West around 1:20 p.m. Sunday.
The attacker then calmly walked away without saying a word, police said.
Machato, who was on a layover in New York before catching a flight to Rome, was hospitalized in serious condition.
