Peter Dinklage has become so synonymous with his “Game of Thrones” character that it’s downright weird to see him outside its realm. He sheds his royal garb and iffy British accent for the wan sci-fi thriller “Rememory,” in which he’s Sam Bloom, a man living with the emotional aftermath of an accident that claimed the life of his brother (Matt Ellis).
Sam’s got a mysterious connection to a murdered inventor (Martin Donovan), whose device allows people to record and play their own memories.
Dinklage is a terrific actor who’s always engaging to watch, and he elevates this screenplay’s plot holes and lame dialogue, alongside the welcome presences of Julia Ormond as the inventor’s widow, Evelyne Brochu of “Orphan Black” as the inventor’s mistress, and sadly, the late Anton Yelchin in a small part as a resentful memory-experiment test subject.
But “Black Mirror” it ain’t; you may find this one purged from your own memory banks shortly after watching.
