Dear Greg
My internship went so well that my employer has offered me a full-time job and asked me to finish school part time in the evenings. I’m seriously considering it, but it means graduating six months later. My parents are freaking out and want me to finish school on schedule. What do you think?
All I can say is this: Before you decide to alter your graduation plans and drive your parents bonkers, you had better make sure that this is your ideal job and dream employer, and they understand and appreciate what you are considering. And it had better be some big, reputable company that thinks you’re such a rock star that they don’t want you to go back to school full time, and are offering you an incredible opportunity or might even pay for your final year. If not, and it’s just a manager who thinks you’re swell, or you’re afraid you won’t find another job after graduation, then you’ve got to be kidding me. Get your butt back to school!
