Let’s open up the Jets mailbag as the Jets prepare to travel to Oakland to face the Raiders on Sunday. Thank you to everyone for their questions.

Who has the better day on Sunday and why? Jets O or Jets D?
cover32Jets (@cover32_NYJ)
Should the Jets be more concerned with the productivity of their offense or defense against Oakland this week?
Marty Levine (@martylevine)
Which is more of a concern — DL or OL underperforming in run game?
These three questions are all tied together and feel like the biggest question coming off of Week 1 and entering Week 2. I think everyone expected the Jets offense to struggle this season, but the defense looked terrible against the Bills and that was surprising.
Now, they face a high-powered Raiders offense. I think this will be a long day again for the Jets defense. I just don’t see how they can stop all of the Raiders weapons. If they load up to take away Marshawn Lynch, Derek Carr will pick them apart. If they play coverage, Lynch and the other Raiders running backs will have a big day behind a very good offensive line.
I think the Jets have to hope to force a few turnovers, get a decent day from the offense and get some fluky things going their way like special teams touchdowns.
In the long run, I think the offensive line is a bigger concern than the defensive line. I’m not ready to shred the defensive line because LeSean McCoy had a huge day against them. He is a great running back with a unique style.

Do you believe Mike Maccagnan should keep his job after misevaluation of Snacks, Wilkerson and Hackenberg?
Aaron (@mets_Jets_4life)
You think Mikey Mac is around next April to make the biggest Jets draft pick in the team’s history?
The hot seat talk has mainly centered around Todd Bowles, but general manager Mike Maccagnan is feeling some heat from the fans, too. Maccagnan’s record is not sterling, but I am not ready to say the team should fire him. I understood his reasoning on letting Damon Harrison walk and signing Muhammad Wilkerson to a long-term deal. I can’t say the same about drafting Christian Hackenberg.
I believe the big thing for Maccagnan this year is how the draft picks from his first three classes look at the end of this season. If it looks like they don’t have many players to build around, then Christopher Johnson could consider making a change. I do think the Jets need to have some patience, though, and the organization could use some continuity. They have had three general managers in the past six years. Maccagnan began the rebuild this year. He should be allowed to see it through for another 1-2 years before any decisions are made.

Do you see the offense taking a few early shots down the field this week in order to reduce the number of defenders in the box?
I don’t know if they will, but I think they should. The number of times the Bills had a loaded box last week got exaggerated. It was not as much as some would like you to believe. Still, I would come out aggressive in this game. You are two-touchdown underdogs. Take some shots. I’d call a flea flicker on the first play. Try something.

If McCown struggles in Week 2 does Petty or Hack start home opener?
No. McCown has a longer leash than that. Think late October before any quarterback change is made.
Let’s Talk Jets! (@talkjetsradio)
Was it true that Gailey helped Bowles with game and clock management? If so, who replaced him?
I have never heard that specifically, but was his game and clock management better in the past two years?
Eee (@TainoEee)
Would Bowles bench Darron Lee (regardless of draft pedigree) if he continues to be useless?
Useless is a little strong. Lee was very active in the game and had 10 tackles and a sack. He did give up some plays in the passing game, but I don’t think the Jets were upset with Lee after that game. Plus, who are you benching him for?
Chad Miner (@chad_Miner)
How’s Petty’s knee?
I’ll go with Bowles here. He practiced fully this week.

Will they show Heidi during the game Sunday?
That might be more entertaining.
