Susan Smith — the mom who drowned her two little boys in her car so she would be more free to date — has been constantly in trouble behind bars, according to a report Tuesday.
The despised 46-year-old South Carolina woman, who has now been in prison for half her life, was already disciplined twice for having sex with corrections workers in the early 2000s.
But she has since repeatedly landed on the wrong side of the law in prison for everything from drugs to self-mutilation, People magazine said, citing corrections records.
Smith has been disciplined at least five times since 2010 for various infractions, the mag said. Two of the violations involved using and having drugs.
Before her arrest in 1995, Smith told cops that she had been carjacked by a black man, with her sons, Michael 3, and Alex, 14 months, still in the vehicle. She even went on TV and cried as she pleaded for the little boys’ safe return.
The bodies of the two tots were soon found in her car at the bottom of a lake, still strapped in their car seats. Smith eventually cracked under the pressure of questioning and confessed to her heinous crime.
She had been dating a man who didn’t want children when she killed her kids.
Smith, in a 2015 letter she wrote to the local paper The State, claimed, “I am not the monster society thinks I am,” insisting, “I was a good mother and I loved my boys. … I was not in my right mind.”
