Three pedestrians suffered “bumps and bruises” when a commercial van driver rammed into them outside Penn Station during the Friday evening rush, authorities said.
The 68-year-old driver told cops that he barreled into the crosswalk at 32nd St. and 7th Avenue because his floor mat got stuck on the accelerator, according to NYPD Inspector Matt Hyland.
He was given an alcohol test after the 5:20 p.m. accident and had a zero reading, Hyland said.
“He’s cooperating with the police from the get-go,” Hyland said of the driver, who was taken to the Midtown South precinct. “He was shaken up.”
The three injured pedestrians, two women and one man, were taken to Bellevue Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Their injuries are bumps and bruises at this time,” Hyland said.
