Why Tom Brady’s latest missed practice means nothing

Tom Brady did not practice again Wednesday, but don’t get your hopes up Jets fan.

“I’ll be there Sunday,” Brady said. “Don’t worry about that. I’ll be there.”

Brady has a left shoulder injury, reportedly an AC sprain. He has not practiced for the past two days, but said he is not worried about the shoulder. He is ready to play through the pain.

“I think everybody does,” Brady said. “I mean, there’s a lot of bumps and bruises over the course of a year. So, I’m not concerned.”

The Jets were missing RB Bilal Powell at practice Wednesday. Powell has a right calf strain. Coach Todd Bowles said Powell’s status is “up in the air right now.” The good news for the Jets was RB Matt Forte returned to practice, though he was limited. He has missed the past two games with a turf toe.

In other injury news, DE Muhammad Wilkerson did not practice. He has been dealing with a shoulder injury for weeks, but he now also has a toe injury. He did not give any details of the injury. Wilkerson was sidelined for three games in 2014 with a turf toe injury. It was not clear if this was the same toe.

CB Darryl Roberts (hamstring), DE Kony Ealy (shoulder) and CB Juston Burris (foot) were limited at practice.

The Jets will see David Harris on Sunday, the linebacker they dumped in June. Harris signed with the Patriots, but has not been a factor for New England so far.

Bowles was asked about Harris on Wednesday.

“David was a great leader when he was here, obviously a class guy, a great football player, a great person,” Bowles said. “His work ethic was outstanding. You don’t get those guys coming around often. David was one of those guys personally to me. He’ll always be missed.”

Bowles was asked what he will say to Harris if he sees him on the field Sunday.

“We’re not going to kiss and go on a date,” he deadpanned.
